Alexandra Kraus studied recorder in Mainz and Amsterdam. She performs publicly in various ensembles; and at the Hessen State Theatre in Wiesbaden, she performs regularly in symphony concerts and Baroque opera productions. Holding a degree in music pedagogy, and with many years’ pedagogical experience, she teaches within the Music Teachers’ Network 2.0, Wiesbaden, a collective of independent music instructors.
Her musical path has been accompanied for more than two decades by intensive training in Zen and meditation. This led to studies of the shakuhachi in the KSK lineage with European-resident KSK teacher Dr. Jim Franklin, commencing in 2011. In 2020 she fulfilled the requirements for the award of her shihan-menjō (Master), with approval from Furuya Teruo (KSK Japan), thus becoming a licensed teacher within KSK Europe.
