KSK-Europe Weekend Workshop in Spain

This event is organized with the collaboration of the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC)

Costs:

Tuition for the whole weekend: € 100.

European Shakuhachi Society (ESS) current members: € 90.

Reductions can be considered for participants in genuine financial difficulty.

Details:

The event will start on Saturday May 23rd at 10am and end on Sunday 24th at 2pm.

A concert will be held either on Friday or Saturday evening (to be determined soon; entry is included in the weekend tuition fee). The event will conclude with a lunch together from 2pm on Sunday.

The venue is the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) which was the venue for the ESS Summer School 2013 (see bellow for deals on location). Should you need help with accommodation, please contact us at ksk.shakuhachi.europe@gmail.com

 

Workshop contents (depending on the particular interests and abilities of the participants):

-Koten honkyoku – one or two (maximum) pieces for each level (depending on difficulty, and abilities of participants)

-Improvisation

-Basic techniques (within the KSK shakuhachi repertoire) and practice

-Modern music – one piece (probably by shakuhachi player and composer Fukuda Rando)

  

Levels:

The workshop will be organized in two levels:

  • Beginners – early intermediate
  • Intermediate – early advanced

These will be adjusted to the needs of the participants.

Please note that an initiation level will not be offered.
